About the Artist

Nici Derosier is an artist, author, poet, and teacher who took to art as soon as she was able to hold a crayon. Throughout her childhood, her family relocated to various countries around the world, and she developed a deep appreciation for the varied cultures of our planet, and the common threads of humanity that tie us all together. Years of artistic expression made it clear that her life would be centered upon her passion for art. After graduating from The Taft School in Connecticut, Nici attended The Corcoran College of Art and Design, where she earned her BFA in 1992.  The following year she completed her CDA, which led to several years of teaching before stepping in to her role as a full-time mother.

Over the years, she has applied her artistic skills to multiple ventures, including craft fairs, mail art, jewelry design, commissioned works, and craft articles for publication.  In addition, her experience as a mother to children with special needs led her to pursue several writing projects which were published in a series of anthologies. 10% of all proceeds from sales in her online shops are donated to CABF, The Child and Adolescent Bipolar Foundation, and Autism Society, two organizations that work hard on behalf of her sons, as well as countless other children diagnosed with a neuro-psych disabilities.

When Nici discovered the wonderful art of SoulCollageĀ®, she could not wait to have an opportunity to share it with the wider world.  Now trained as a SoulCollageĀ® facilitator, she brings a deeper understanding of the soul-tending process of SoulCollageĀ® to the classes and workshops she offers, and is always moved and inspired to see the wonder and catharsis participants encounter as they create cards for themselves.

Nici currently lives in Stratford, CT with her husband and three sons. She knows firsthand the challenges inherent in successfully weaving artistic pursuits and soul-tending work into the web of a busy life.  It is her hope that she can help others find ways to do the same.
